Since the one-child policy was implemented, the issues that come along with the one-child generation have become the focus of the public. To be more specific, problems with their living conditions, educational status, mental health, socialization process and providing the aged parents have been widely discussed and analysed by academics. As time moves on, the number of one-child college students keeps increasing. Therefore, they gradually become the dominant group in college communities. After they successfully get into universities, whether they can quickly adapt to the new lives and environment there and whether they can form a positive attitude towards lives and values are the cornerstones that would direct them to the society. In addition, the ability for them to overcome the shortcomings, which are coming from their one-child family environments, and to further get involved into the interaction between them and the society is also a key factor which would significantly affect their future. At the same time, apartments become the basic study and living units. Thus, the new environments in apartments directly determine how they would perform in the socialisation process. The majority of academics focus on the psychological and educational aspects of the only-child generation. In addition, the study towards their personality, psychology and study status is mainly analysed and described. Most of the research that is concentrated on the university apartments is carried out pedagogically. However, under the perspective of sociology only a few studies have been done on the social interaction and social relationships. of the one-child generation when they live in university apartments. Based on the current study progress, this thesis systematically compares the questionnaire surveys and measuring scales finished by both one-child group and not-only-child group to draw a conclusion about the problem proposed above. Meanwhile, analytical methods like sociology questionnaire, scale, interview and direct observation are used to help to collect necessary data. The thesis starts from socially professional views with the symbolic interactionism, the attribution theory of social cognition, the labelling theory along with knowledge sociology to analyse the social interaction and social relationships in the specific environments of university apartments. Then, based on the results and theories above, methods, such as questionnaire, scale, interview?are applied to further verify the proposed assumption, which is that the social interaction and social relationships of one-child group differ from those of not-one-child group. At last, the reasons are analysed according to the achieved results. Through the comparison of connections, anticipation and perception, social interaction, social relationships all these4aspects of one-child group, the assumption is studied and it can be concluded that there exists one or a few differences in social interaction and social relationships between one-child group and not-one-child group. However, the general difference is not particularly obvious. The assumption made earlier is not adequately established. The reason for this is mainly because of family reasons. In other word, various of family types lead to the difference between the two groups. Due to the existence of the labels of the two groups and the fact that people not being able to introspect themselves when receiving incorrect knowledge, a misleading orientation of thinking is generated during the process. That is one-child group and not-one-child group are two totally different groups with no similarities existing between them. This thesis verifies this type of orientation and the reasons for that is studied as well.
