Japan is the economic and technological power in the world today and pays attention to the basic education of student. It is a long history for Japan to carry out the science education of junior high school. The new knowledge, new information and new technology play more and more important position in all fields in the21st century. In response to the request of the ages, Japan has carried out the new round of science education reform. The curriculum standard is the basic requirement for education of the country and is also the basis of textbook compilation. The Japanese science curriculum standard of the junior high school is a guidance document that is one of the important bases for textbook compilation. This paper chooses the Japanese science curriculum standard of the junior high school that announced in2008and the textbook named New Science as the object of the research using the method of literature and text analysis and introduces the Japanese science curriculum standard of the junior high school. At the same time, the paper analyzes the textbook named New Science in detail.This paper includes five sections. At the beginning it is a introduction that includes the reason, method, meaning of the study. Chapter one is about the situation of the Japanese science education mainly from the Japanese history and present situation of science education, school education system and the junior middle school science curriculum structure to introduce. Chapter two is a brief introduction about the Japanese science curriculum standard of the junior high school. On the basis of introducing the revise about the curriculum standard, the paper has the study on course objectives, course content and STSE education of it. Chapter three is the most important part of the paper. This part introduces the the textbook named New Science briefly and discusses the presentation of the textbook. It also analyses the specific biological content, the type of biological knowledge, students’ learning activities and STSE education of the textbook. Chapter three is about the conclusion and revelation of the paper. Through the research of the Japanese science curriculum standard of the junior high school and the textbook named New Science, the textbook named New Science have many distinct features. First, textbook writing structure conforms to students’ cognitive regularity and attaches great importance to the basic knowledge and the relation between the old and new knowledge, STSE education, the learning of concepts, the summary and a variety of learning activities. These features give some useful suggestions to the textbook of China.
