The carrying out of“Happy Day”among primary schools in Shanghaiserves not only to response actively to the voice of reducing heavy schoolworkburden, but also as the effective measure to deepen the curriculum reform, whichcan improve teaching efficiency as well as teaching quality. The project of “HappyDay” as integrated the curriculum planning. Moreover, it has put forth a creativecurriculum pattern featured by all kinds of educational resources.To implement Shanghai medium and long-term outline for educationalreform and development (2010-2020) and conference spirit on elementary educationin Shanghai, the administrative departments of Education in Shanghai has performedthe trial of “Happy Day” since the2011academic year, consequently, this move hasoptimized curriculum structure, designed special courses, enhanced students’learning and practice ability, enriching their learning experiences and reducing heavyburden of schoolwork. It also achieved the goal of deepening the quality-orientededucation, functioning the educating purpose entirely, and providing a platform forstudents to learn and practice. Other than that, this move also aimed to let themgrow up happily and healthily. Responding, it s strengthened school culture buildingof “educating moral and talented students”, making them learn to behavethemselves, manage matters, practice and cooperate with others in relaxed andpleasurable activities on which circumstance they can stimulate their interest,develop the intellectual ability and strengthen their physical body. Based on this, thisessay made an investigation on Grade5students and their P.E teacher from20schools in10counties in Shanghai including Changning District, Hongkou District,Jinshan District, Minhang District, Pudong New Area, Songjiang District, YangpuDistrict, Zhabei District, Xuhui District, Huangpu District. It is concluded that studentsin Shanghai possess a high participating rate with great passion in sports activities of“Happy Day”, which can guarantee their sports exercising time. Moreover, moststudents can determine their favorite sports during sports time. Various designed forms of sports activities emerged on the “Happy Day” which contains students’favorite sports. Gradually they are aware of the importance of playing sports, tendingto help them entertain themselves, relax their physical and spiritual life as well asrelease daily pressure. However, students’ sports value is to be further changed; Thestudents and their PE teacher both can accept the project in which they can all takepart in the sports activities; However, the problem of simple sports terms lackingcultivation, limited sports space and sports equipment has kept “Happy Day” fromfurther development.In view of the current condition of “Happy Day” and existing problem, thisessay has bring forward corresponding measures and suggestions, providing ansignificant reference for combing future physical education and developing students’sports habits.
