Responsibility is the eternal theme of human pursuit at all times, no exceptions. From Confucius’s "doing my part" and Mencius’s "if not me, who?" to citizens’ basic virtues in the new period:patriotism and observance of law; courtesy and honesty; solidarity and friendship; diligence, frugality and self-improvement; devotion and contribution. From "responsible citizens" in America to the basic idea of <The Ideological and Moral Curriculum Standard>:help the student to live a positive and healthy life, to be a responsible citizen. Responsibility is always standard the personal behavior and the value orientation. At present, with the reinforcement of trend of economic globalization, the competition of comprehensive national strength has grown significantly. Meanwhile, social problems present a multiple trend. For example, ecological environment issues, food safety issues, corruption issues, family issues and so on. All these issues affect the social stability and development. These phenomena also reflect the sense of civic responsibility has played down. Therefore, it is the top priority to promote the citizens’ sense of responsibility.School is the main channel and main position to cultivate the citizens’sense of responsibility. School also bears the important mission to cultivate the socialist qualified builders and reliable successors. It is important for students’plasticity of physical and mental development in the middle school stage. At the same time, students’self consciousness and independent consciousness is sprouting. This period is a critical period to cultivate citizens’ sense of responsibility. Therefore, the corresponding education for the students to form good moral character and build a sense of responsibility and positive attitude to life has an important fundamental role. But through the investigation, there are many problems about the status of middle school students’ civic responsibility and relevant education. Therefore, it is very necessary to carry out the practical research and theoretical exploration for middle school students.This thesis mainly adopts literature research and questionnaire survey method to study middle school students’ civic responsibility. There are four parts in the thesis:the first part is introduction. This part mainly introduces the research status at home and abroad, research significance, research methods and innovation. The second part is theoretical overview of the middle school students’ civic responsibility. Define the responsibility, the sense of responsibility, citizens’ sense of responsibility and middle school students’ civic responsibility. This part analyzes the generation and development middle school students’ civic responsibility based on the ethics, politics and psychology. The third part mainly explains the status quo and causes of middle school students’ civic responsibility. Through the questionnaire survey, understand the status quo of middle school students’ civic responsibility and generalize its characteristics. This part provides the realistic basis to cultivate the sense of responsibility on the basis of analyzing social, family, school and individual. The fourth part introduces the principles, paths and strategies of cultivation of the citizens’ sense of responsibility. Combined with practical experience, the paper analyzes the principle and the path of cultivation of middle school students’civic responsibility. The author hopes that this thesis would improve middle school students’moral quality by practical and effective education, and promote the implementation of citizens’ moral construction.
