Comrade Deng Xiaoping once pointed out:" Whether China can achieve success in itssocialism, reforming and opening, its economy and country stability, in some way, depend onthe people." As a person who lives in the world and in the society,one should have a certainsense of responsibility. The individual’s sense of social responsibility is important forindividual freedom and harmonious development of our society.Middle school students arethe potential mainstream in the development of country and society, bearing the responsibilityfor China’s development. Whether the students’ sense of social responsibility is strong or notwill be related to not only the state and national development but also the students’ matureand improvement. We should admit that most students have a strong sense of socialresponsibility. But in the meantime we should also know that some students’ sense of socialresponsibility is weak, for example they have weak collective concept and the spirit ofcooperation is poor; they don’t have clear beliefs and lack a sense of responsibility. Besides,their values are wrong and are unwilling to devote themselves to the society, etc.. As a result,it is difficult for them to shoulder the responsibility and mission of the times, more difficult tooccupy a place of their own in international competition. Therefore, cultivating a middlestudents’ sense of social responsibility and making them become useful in the twenty-firstCentury have the extremely vital significance.This paper is divided into three parts:The first part is about the concept and characteristics of the sense of responsibility, aswell as the meaning of students’ sense of social responsibility and the necessity of help themiddle school students to have the sense of social responsibility. This part is based on theclear sense of social responsibility and analyses the characteristic of the sense of socialresponsibility, elaborates the students’ sense of social responsibility ’s connotation, andexplains the necessity of cultivating the middle students, which is necessary for the socialdevelopment and promoting the quality education and the effectiveness of moral education and that the students’ sense of social responsibility education is needed for middle students’growth and improvement.The second part analyses the current situation on middle school students’ sense of socialresponsibility.This part of student’ sense of social responsibility is the mainstream progressive,itsoutstanding performance is in the following three aspects:political enthusiasm relativelyhigh,relatively high patriotic enthusiasm;a strong sense of innovation,talent consciousness isstrong;the desire of performense is stong,strong sense of participation. Meanwhile,this sectionfocuses on the students’ sense of social responsibility problems. The obvious problems aredivided in the following three aspects: their collective idea is thin and lack cooperation spirit;their ideals and beliefs are not clear and lack a sense of responsibility; they have wrong valuesand are unwilling to devote themselves to the society and the people. The other, the partanalyses the reasons for the problems mentioned above, including the social environmentinterference, school education, family education, students’ neglect etc..The third major part talks about the content of the students’ sense of social responsibilityand the way to build up the sense of social responsibility. Aiming at the students’ sense ofsocial responsibility problems and the reasons for these problems, the author points outbuilding up the students’ sense of social responsibility should include emotional education,responsibility education and the education of ideal and belief. The author also puts forwardthe ways to cultivate the students’ sense of social responsibility. First, we should improve thesocial environment, which guarantee the students’ sense of social responsibility. Second, weshould improve the school environment, which is the main way to build up socialresponsibility. And forth we should help to improve family environment, which is importantfor cultivating students’ sense of social responsibility. Last but only the least, we shouldstrengthen self education which is the effective way to form students’ sense of socialresponsibility.In conclusion, students’ sense of social responsibility education is a systematic program.It not only needs the school to play a role, but also need the society, family and the studentsthemselves to cooperate closely. We should be well aware of the importance of strengthening students’ sense of social responsibility and do our best to help the middle school studentbecome the promising generation with the strong sense of social responsibility.
