With the great trend of economic globalization and the rapid development of science andtechnology, people’s sense of responsibility is in high demand. Various problems of seniorhigh school students are in close connection with their lack of sense of responsibility.Therefore, developing their responsibility awareness and helping them grow up to beresponsible citizens is a top priority of ethical education. High schools play an important role incarrying out ethical education from enhancing the efficiency of ethical education, tryingdifferent methods to develop students’ responsibility awareness, exploring viable andeffective training mode, to stimulating students’ individual psychological needs. All theseprovide effective methods for developing real talents, thus helping promote the constructionof socialist spiritual civilization, promote the development of Harmonious Society, andachieve great economic and social value. Therefore, the development of responsibilityawareness in high schools is an important task which contributes to solving realistic problemsand fostering students’ all-round development.With the background of basic education, the author began the cultivation of students’sense of responsibility since2002and has accumulated successful experience. The authortook a few research methods such as observation, investigation and experience summing-upto understand the present situation of senior high school students’ responsibility awarenessand how to cultivate their responsibility awareness by investigating and interviewing students.The author also analyzed the problems of the development of senior high school students’sense of responsibility and their forming reasons by combining the instigation results basedon a large number of documents and relevant research in this book, explored thereinforcement of SHS students’ cultivation of responsibility awareness, and concluded theguidelines and effective methods during the cultivation of SHS students’ responsibilityawareness. Hope this article will provide a useful reference to the SHS students’ furtherdevelopment of responsibility awareness.The full text is divided into five parts besides introduction. The first part is the outline ofSHS students’ responsibility awareness. It defines the meaning of SHS students’responsibility consciousness, that is, the SHS students’ initiative and awareness to actively assume responsibility and carry out obligations for the consequences caused by their actionswith the guidance of social and ethical values as their main evaluation standard. According todifferent divisions of responsibilities, it ascertains that responsibility should be composed ofself responsibility, family responsibility and social responsibility. Therein, socialresponsibility can be divided into the responsibility to others, to the community, to thecountry and to the whole environment, which lay a foundation for the research of SHSstudents’ responsibility awareness; the second part elaborates the scientific basis of thedevelopment of SHS students’ responsibility awareness. It expounds its theoretical basis fromphilosophy, pedagogy, sociology, and ethics backgrounds. Furthermore, it states its realisticbasis since it helps SHS students to grow healthily, helps school education to developscientifically, helps society to develop harmoniously, and helps education to adapt to the maintread and needs of world education, etc; the third part conveys the present situation, problemsand causes during the cultivation of HSH students’ responsibility awareness. The author hasconducted a questionnaire survey about the sense of responsibility to the students in fourdifferent types of senior high schools and found that some students lack the responsibility ofself, family, and society, and do not have a unified liability of responsibility cognition andactions, etc. Through interview, the author has found out there exist certain problems aboutthe present cultivation of responsibility awareness and analyzes the causes of the cultivation,such as immaturity of SHS students’ body and mind development, management drawback ofschool education, improper family education and bad influence of social environment, etc.Besides, the author presents that senior high schools, playing an important role in developingethical education, should intensify the cultivation and research of SHS students’ sense ofresponsibility; the fourth part exposes the principles and methods of the cultivation of SHSstudents’ sense of responsibility. It introduces that, during the cultivation, schools shouldabide by main body principle, practicality principle, penetration principle and order principle,establish high sense of responsibility developing education management mechanism, carryout various education activities, enhance their awareness of self-education, and give full playto campus culture and subject education, etc to strengthen the cultivation of SHS students’sense of responsibility; the fifth part is about the cultivation effect and reflection of SHSstudents’ sense of responsibility. After the reinforcement of SHS students’ sense of responsibility, their responsibility sense, self-service sense and study initiative have generallyincreased, which helps schools to form their special characteristics, rethink the cultivation ofSHS students’ sense of responsibility and propose several aspects to be aware of in furthercultivation of SHS students’ sense of responsibility.
