Women’s Heptathlon is a sport with a long history, it has a high level of skill and quality requirements. Since its introduction to China, it has got the attention and concentration of the athlete, and achieved a great progress. During the years of1985-1995, there were a number of excellent all-around athletes flourishing.As an important part of the athletic sports, our college utility players are reserved forces of all-round sports in our country, which draws attention from all walks of the society. The record of women’s heptathlon in the national University Games of China till now was created by Shen Shengfei in the6th national University Games in2000, getting5839points, while the world record of women’s heptathlon in University Games was created by Nikitina in1989, Duisburg, getting6847points. It is obvious that our athletes were fallen far behind compared with the world top athletes. How to improve the performance of women’s heptathlon college athletes, find out the reason for our lagging behind the world’s top college athletes, and shorten the gap between our athletes and the world’s excellent college athletes, have become common concerned issues of coaches and athletes of university heptathlon in our country.In this study,transverse statistical analyses and comparative studies were carried out to study the records of the top eight athletes of women’s heptathlon in the ninth "Universidad"(first division) and the26th world "Universidad" using the literature survey method, comparative method, mathematical statistics, logic analysis and other research methods, points out the gap between our college students’women’s heptathlon athletes and excellent undergraduate women’s heptathlon athletes in the world, the main problems of our athletes, and the influential factors in improving our athletes performance, for the sake of providing reference to China women heptathlon players scientific selection, training and competition, enabling them to become top good all-around athlete in our country. This article try to reveal the current situation of college all-around athletes’comprehensive quality, and give some references for the teaching and training of all-around exercise in colleges and professional teams. Conclusions are as follows:1. Though the gap of overall skill and level between our athletes and world university women’s heptathlon athletes is obvious, the score characteristics of each item are identical approximately. To further improve the overall strength of our college students’all-round athletes, we should begin from the shot put and javelin where larger development space exists, and develop potential of college athletes, and thus prompting total grades.2. Great disparity can be found in total grade, scores of each item and level of skill between our athletes and world university women’s heptathlon athletes. Besides, the relatively imbalance development of the individual items also proved that the individual difference of the college all-round athlete in our country was large, and the holistic development was unbalanced. The greatest weakness was shot put, javelin and800m project. The scientific analysis and studies of skills of each single item should be strengthen, and base on the characteristics of each individual athletes, we should further improve the techniques, and gradually optimize technical movement, so as to achieve the optimal effect.3. The fact that the contribution rates of each single item to total scores and their overall orderings of athletes in our country and world university women’s heptathlon athletes has no obvious difference explained the scoring structure form and characteristics were almost the same, but our college student’s all-round players scoring ability of each single item was relatively poor and not varied. To comprehensively improve the physical quality, technical level and performance of college athletes, comprehensively grasping the strength of athletes’physical quality starting from the selection, scheduling a reasonable training plan and content according to the characteristics of individual athletes and using a proper method was needed.4. The contribution to overall score of our athletes and the world outstanding undergraduate women’s heptathlon athletes were the same, i.e. speed class>skip class>throwing class>endurance class; both has advantage in100meter hurdles,long jump,200meters and high jump project, disadvantaged in the javelin, shot put,800meter. Thus, we should train the athletes according to their characteristics, improving the weak points to achieve balanced development, which can theoretically and practically improve the overall level of college students’ women’s heptathlon movement.5. Both our athletes and world university women’s heptathlon athletes are "running-type", who did not reach the level of "all-round" athletes, our college all-around athletes are particularly weaker in terms of strength and endurance. So we should lay emphasis on strength and endurance quality training and related skills practice of college students, thus we can reduce the gap in terms of physical quality with the world’s college all-round athletes.
