Task-based language teaching (TBLT) focuses on making students learn by doing in forms of tasks with explicit task purposes, so it can arouse students’ inner learning motivation and improve their integrating skills to its fullest extent. However, TBLT is an approach which stems from abroad and develops abroad, and it aims at the second language teaching, while English in our country is a foreign language. Under this circumstance, what effects does it have in senior English class? This paper is just a tool to help lots of frontline teachers and researchers have correct understandings and attitudes towards it and serve teaching in a better way.Research processes of this study are as follows:to get to know implementation situations and effects of TBLT in senior English class by using classroom observational method, questionnaire method and interviewing method. It involves the following questions:1.What are the attitudes of teachers when using TBLT;2.What are the attitudes and reactions of students when using TBLT in class, and what changes happen to them after using this approach;3.What problems and obstacles does it have in the process of implementation.I went on classroom observation for a month in the internship school. Besides,I designed two specific questionnaires for both teachers and students from three different level schools. From all of these we can get to know some information about current situations of TBLT. In order to have a better understanding, I especially select three senior English teachers to have face-to-face talk.Research results show that:1. Teachers have different attitudes towards TBLT and knowledge should be improved; According to data,2%of teachers think nothing about it, while55%has partial approval and only43%approves it. From the degrees of knowing this approach, even23%of teachers only have average knowledge. Besides, still32%of the teachers mistake activities or exercises for tasks in the investigation of task definition2.The implementation of TBLT has positive effects on both teachers and students. For teachers, it enhances their own qualities,87%of the teachers think lesson preparation load increases, so teachers themselves get improved during this process. For students, it also brings good benefits,81%of students’ learning enthusiasm and interests grow;3.TBLT has some difficulties and problems when used, and some factors limit its application such as workload, class size and some realistic situations in our country. What we attain from this study is that we should combine our own national and local characteristics with TBLT and try to sinicize it. Only in this way can TBLT make contributions to English teaching and reforms in our country and better improve current English situations. What’s more, it can greatly improve students’ comprehensive language skills.
