China is undergoing a transition from agricultural society to industrial society. In order to maintainand promote the sustainable development of modern agriculture, it is necessary to train a large numberof new-type professional peasants. And, strengthening peasants’ vocational education will provide astrong talent support for the development of modern agriculture. Therefore, it is of much theoretical andpractical significance to actively explore a new model of peasants’ vocational education and establish anefficient training system for new-type peasants. This thesis aims at enriching practical experiences ofvocational education of peasants of Yibin County and relevant theories.In this thesis, an analysis is made on the problems with vocational education of new-type peasantsof Yibin County and their causes by using literature study, questionnaire, household interviews andother research methods and combining quantitative and qualitative analysis, and individual cases andoverall analysis made on the basis of large amounts of survey data. Besides, after using the advanceddomestic and international experience in this regard for reference, ideas and measures and possibleinnovative models to promote the development of vocational education of peasants of Yibin County areput forward. Main research results and a conclusion of the research are as follows:1. Make a comprehensive review of theoretical basis of peasants’ vocational education and findthe theoretical basis for the development of peasants’ vocational education, and make a systematicreview of domestic and international experience in this regard.2. Investigate and analyze the characteristics and the influencing factors of current vocationaleducation of peasants of Yibin County. The following basic characteristics of rural labor force of YibinCounty are identified:(1) agricultural workers are older than migrant workers.(2) Empty-nest family isprominent in rural areas.(3) Rural labor force is at a low level of cultural quality as a whole, wholargely has only received primary or junior high education. The development of vocational education ofpeasants of Yibin County is mainly influenced by their quality, main part of training, training methodsand training contents and other factors.3. Investigate and analyze the major problems of vocational education of peasants of YibinCounty, which lie as follows: there is a lack of scientific training system, a waste of training resourcesand a shortage of funds, resulting in its restricted development; training contents are inadequate and thepeasants show no much interest in training; educational methods are out of date and vocationaleducation cannot yield high effectiveness. On the basis of summarizing the problems, the followingmajor causes are identified: there is a lack of relevant laws and regulations, systematic protection,enough driving force for vocational education and diverse supply channels of training. Yibingovernment acts as a major part in training, accounting for about72.5%of all parts; people are reluctantto carry on agricultural work because the economic efficiency of agriculture is low.4. Through a investigative study of the problems of vocational education of peasants of YibinCounty, some measures and an innovative training model are clearly proposed in this thesis to promotethe development of vocational education of peasants of Yibin County, including urging legalization and establishing a multi-input mechanism; diversifying supply channels of training and creating anintegrated mechanism; making a strengthened effort to publicize and establishing a dynamic mechanism;innovating training methods according to local conditions; exploring a characteristic innovative modelof sustainable development of new-type peasants’ vocational education(mainly including implementingstudent development model to achieve preparatory functions for future career; encouragingentrepreneurial development model to keep talents in rural areas, establishing peasants’ lifelongeducation model, and establishing vocational training centers, etc.)...
