Textbook,as an important part of the classroom instruction,is the main carrier of thecontent and an essential material foundation to achieve teaching objectives.It is not only thebasis of the teachers’teaching,but also the main foundation of thestudents’learning.Therefore,the textbook occupies a crucial position in the teachingactivities.However,due to the imperfections of the compilation theory etc.,there are all sorts ofproblems.In2003,the publication of the Ordinary High School Language CurriculumStandards replaces syllabus becoming an significant document for guiding languagecourses.Under the guidance of the new curriculum ideas,all kinds of the new textbooks comeoff the press in succession.whether the new versions of the textbooks meet the educationalphilosophy of the new curriculum,except waiting for the test of time,to do a thorough researchabout them has become an essential work for our new curriculum reform.In the Chinese textbooks,the selected passages,as a core component of the textbook,has acrucial role in the realization of the purpose of language education.Well,the selected passagesabout the ancient literature,which carry on the excellent traditional culture of the Chinesenation,has always been the people’s attention.But,because of the distant past,obscurelanguages and profound ideas,it also become a bottleneck restricting the achievement ofsecondary Chinese education.So in order to improve the quality of the selected text as awhole,a thorough and meticulous study on ancient literature works selected in the textbookshas become an essential issue.The study mainly selects the two sets of the high schoolcurriculum standard Chinese textbooks (compulsory) published by People’s EducationPress(PEP)and Jiangsu Education Press,which have a far-reaching impact and are usedwidely,to carry on the comparison and analysis.Under the guidance of the principles of the new curriculum standard,this passage mainlyproceed with the quantity,the dynasty,the literature style,the theme and the organized aspect.Itadopts the row graph and example methods to obtain the appropriate and imapporpriate placesin the ancient literature texts of the two sets of the high school Chinese books.Then we try topropose some shallow priciples and recommendations for the selection and design of theancient literature works in the high school Chinese textbooks to perfect the high schoollanguage teaching materials.
