High-quality teachers are the basis for the development and reform of education. Since the StateEducation Commission was Promulgated "English Teaching Syllabus for junior middle school of full-timecompulsory education (first draft)" in early1988.In the nationwide, the junior middle school EnglishTeaching has developed for many years, as the implementation of English education in junior middleschool, the teacher play an important role in the process of developing students’ ability of action. Thejunior middle school English teachers are common but unique group in the teacher troop, because theytaking the responsibility of cohesion of junior middle school students’ knowledge of English and laying thejunior high school students’ English learning base. Therefore, people eager to know whether the teachershave achieved the requirement or not? We need a study on current teachers’ quality.With the basic education curriculum reform developing and people’s awareness of the importance ofeducation growing, teacher professionalization has become one of the hottest issues of the educationalcircles, and gradually become the world trend of development of teacher education and the teachereducation in our country reform direction. Study on the junior high school English teachers’ professionalproblem, will be conducive to the overall quality of teachers of ascension, has great theoretical significanceand practical value.the paper firstly reviews the theoretical achievements on the "professional" in sociology, use forreference of teacher professional of the junior middle school, combined with the characteristics of Englishsubject, the author sums up the professional quality that the junior middle school English should possessincludes professional philosophy, professional knowledge, professional competence.Secondly, selected64junior middle school English teachers in Shihezi City as the research objects,using questionnaires, interviews and other research methods, investigated deeply from the aspects ofteachers basic situation, professional development needs of specialization on junior middle school, to learntheir professional status.In the last place, on the basis of analyzing the present situation, pointed out that the reason for theexistence of the final form, on the basis of analysis and discussion, and puts forward the strategies ofprofessional development of junior high school English teachers in Shihezi City.
