Research On The Drum Car Folk-Sports’ Current Situation And Development Actuality Of Xiangfen County

Decision Made by the CPC Central Committee concerning some Major Issues to Promote Cultural Industrial Development strongly and prosperously, adopted by The Sixth Plenum of the17th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China provides two basic development directions for the cultural industry. One is to speed up the development of cultural industry and cultivate it into the new economic growth point. Second is to promote cultural industry development by leaps and bounds so as to make it become the new economic growth point. On the one hand, cultural industry has broad development space and the rapid development of it is beneficial to enhance the China’s cultural soft power and cultivate cultural industry into China’s pillar industry. On the other hand, the rapid speed also promotes China’s economic structural adjustment, and then changes China’s development mode. The Drum Car Running Sport in Xiangfen County is a folk physical activity which has unique style and long history. Since ancient times, it has evolved from folk activity to folk physical activity combining music performance and physical competition. The Drum Car Running Sport is widely received popularity in the southern rural areas in Shanxi because of its ancient history, rich cultural heritage and plentiful entertainment. It remains original ecological and historical appealing, and contains abundant historic cultural information like ancient sports, performance, drum music, folk-custom and so on, and at the same time, it also makes modern sports realize different functions, such as improving the health, irritating, competing, entertaining and being socially. The Drum Car Running Sport not only strengthens the team spirit and collective sense of honor among the people, but also plays a positive role in strengthening villagers’solidarity and village’s cohesion. As a primitive athletic activity of the masses, the essence of this sport lies in the perfect combination between drum and car, rhythm and movement. In another word, it combines the beauty of bold and vigorous drumming with sports spirit of becoming stronger and faster perfectly, which forms its unique culture.This article researches the Drum Car Running Sport in Yu Village, Xiangfen County systematically through following research methods, documentation method, expert interview method, questionnaire method, field investigation method and mathematical statistic method. It bases on current actual situation, practical researches and information collected through visiting and consulting relevant experts. Questionnaires are delivered to participants and non-participants in the Drum Car Running Culture Festival in Yu Village, Xaingfen County, leaders of Xiangfen Department and related directors of Drum Car Association in Yu Village. And then these materials are classified systematically and finished statistically. This article analyzes and researches the current status of the Drum Car Running Sport, investigates the present situation, problems, constraints and prospects deeply and carefully, and does some useful discussion on the future market-oriented devolpment of this sport.The survey results reveal that the Drum Car Running Sport owns profound culture and long history, but there also exists some problems in the process of developing. It exist capital bottleneck and no special funds are given by the government to support. It lacks of organization, leadership and publicity, and both the social popularity and market degree are lower. People participated in this sport tend to population ageing, and the number of them is also decreasing dramatically, moreover, they ignore the problem of cultivating their inheritors. The modernization of the village, the transformation of the mode of production, and the impact of Western sports, threaten the further development of the Drum Car Running.After a series of analysis to these problems, there are some suggestions. More investment should be increased by government and files should be established in the locality with special people responsible for it. Enhance the propaganda efforts and develop its industrilization to make it commercialization and marketization. Select prefessionals and experts to increase research investment and enlarge the content to boost its interest and charm to attract the masses. Cultivate successors, orgnize the Drum Car Running race and performance in daily life and the Drum Car culture should be introduced in primary school. Through using culture as precursor, formulating the long-term development strategy and establishing sound management mechanism, the Drum Car Running returns to the society, enter the market and achieve sustainable development of integration of industry, education and research.
