A Review Of American Student Success Research

Student success is a challenged problem to American’s higher education.Many students think they did not achieve the geol of higher education or to get more benefits from their university experience. Therefore, promoting college students’academic success becomes a most important thing to the school managers, teachers and parents.It becomes a hot research subject to many scholars.In order to promoting students’academic success,the Center for Postsecondary Research developed a Project on Academic Success in the Indiana University School of Education,and many other universities researchers pay close attention to this subject.According to the actual situation of different kinds of schools and different types of students,there is a lot of in-depth study and some phased achievements have been made.In this paper the author cleared up the research of "student success" especially combed and demanded the popular Project on Academic Success in recent a decade.The essay expounded several theory of student success and introduced the connotation and index of it.Then the author introduced the internal factors and the external factors of student success.At last,the paper proposed a series of effective measures to support and ensure student success.
