Looking back into the development of human society, we can easily reach aconclusion that “group” is more or less speeding up the process of the incident itself, forinstance, in war, riots and the spread of the rumor. On account of the limitations of thehuman themselves,“group” is usually turned into mob, who does great damage to thesociety and the individual as well. In particular in Information Age like today, advancedmeans of communication exert great obstacles on traditional person-to-personcommunication, thus intensifying the sense of loneliness and helplessness of the people.Additionally, the invasion of cultural snack results in people s loss of patience in readingand thinking seriously, all of which has definitely laid rich soil on the formation of themob.More importantly, people don t raise enough awareness on the terrible destructionthat mob causes, which gives rise to human s absence of objective and correctself-evaluation. In this thesis, I will analyze the basis of how mob psychology forms fromreligious and social psychological perspective in Chapter1. In chapter2, the in-depthanalysis of the formation of mob psychology will be introduced. In Chapter3, the externalfactors that contribute to its formation will be discussed, such as propaganda and thefunction of leadership. Finally, attempt will be made at exploring the meaning of howsolitude surpasses and breaks away from the sense of mob. Based on the analysis anddiscussion of the internal mechanism of the formation of mob psychology, the propagandaeffect of mass media and the psychology of people s escaping from solitude, this uniquephenomenon “mob” will be summarized from an all-round and historical side. Meanwhile,I will gain a new comprehension and value of solitude, the nature of life.
