Culture is an important part of language. The positive effects of culture teaching has been the hot topic inforeign language teaching field. In2001, the full-time compulsory education and senior high schoolEnglish curriculum standards, the national Ministry of Education promulgated (experiment draft), for thefirst time the cultural consciousness as an independent content into the curriculum standard. The curriculumstandard according to the age characteristic and the cognitive ability of students, the cultural object isdivided into two level, five level and eight level, and require students to cultural targets level five.Therefore, in the junior middle school English Teaching in China to strengthen and improve cultureteaching be imperative.Based on the close relationship between language and culture and the schema theory as the theoreticalbasis, analyzes all kinds of cultural factors in the current textbooks, discussed in the junior middle schoolEnglish teaching and culture teaching and the necessity and feasibility of consciousness and trainingstudents’ cultural awareness. According to the new regulations issued by the Ministry of education "Englishcurriculum standards" requirements for the teaching of culture, the author takes53junior middle schoolstudents in Jiangdong District of Ningbo City Shuguang middle school as the specific object of cultureteaching, based on the current English teaching materials used on teaching experiment, the object of theexperiment for four months. In the experimental process, teachers help students absorb the culturalinformation and cultural awareness through the use of effective culture teaching strategies system. At thesame time, the author also adopts quantitative and qualitative research methods to prove the promotingeffect of culture teaching in junior middle school English teaching. This paper also discusses the contentand methods for training the students’ cultural awareness in English Teaching of junior middle school,enrich the practice of culture teaching in junior middle schools. At the end of the article, the author pointsout the shortcomings of this study, suggestions were put forward to effectively carry out the teaching ofculture.
