The purpose of this study is to investigate developmental condition of numberconservation, length conservation, area conservation and volume conservation aboutchildren in top class. A sample of63children who were in top class was randomlyselected from two classes in an ordinary preschool in Baoding. The test to assess thedevelopmental condition of children in top class about number conservation, lengthconservation, area conservation and volume conservation in this study was adaptedfrom study created by Piaget’s conservation test and the test from the pastconservation study. The study examined the developmental condition of children intop class about number conservation, length conservation, area conservation andvolume conservation by means of Descriptive Statistics (DS); the effects of gender onthe mastering condition of conservation capability of children in top class by Methodof Difference (MOD); the relationship among the four kind of conservationconception through Correlation Analysis (CA); the score of every conservationassignment by Independent-Sample T-test(IST); at the same time, the study alsotabled a proposal according to the problem in the test, and discussed the implicationof conservation. The result indicated as follows:1. Most of the children in top class had mastered the conception of numberconservation; small part of children in top class was beginning to master theconception of length conservation, area conservation and volume conservation.2. There wasn’t any gender discrimination on the developmental condition ofconservation capability of children in top class.3. The significant positive correlation emerged among the number conservationtask, length conservation task, area conservation task, volume conservation task andconservation ensemble task; in the meantime, there were significant positivecorrelation among the pair-wise conservation tasks.4.The educators should make the conservation conception permeate children’sdaily life;make full use of form such as game, etc, which can make the childrenunderstand the conservation conception easily; provide the children with rich material, taking advantage of the material to improve the children’s understanding ofconservation conception; afford the children enough opportunity for hands-on, makethe children understand the conservation conception during the constantly learning bythemselves.
