As a response to the call of country, with the development of new trend of TheTimes education, Wuhan music institute in1988pioneered "pentathlon competition".The contest is designed to develop music education professional students, the fiveproject is a music teacher teaching based on the actual need of professional content toset up the basic skills, it embodies the professional requirements for a qualifiedprimary and secondary school music teacher. Today,"pentathlon competition" hasexperienced more than20years of development, and promotes too many colleges anduniversities across the country, has become affect national important events."Pentathlon competition" with its clear guidance and demonstration to promote thecollege music education reform and development, has important guiding significance.But in our country under the new situation of higher music teacher educationdevelopment, the imperfect place is worth us to think again. This article through tothe development overview of "pentathlon competition" and the application of thecompetition in music teacher education development significance, introduced "thepentathlon competition" and music teacher education development of the relationshipbetween them, and the analysis of music teacher education in our country under thenew situation the pentathlon competition to our thinking, and further puts forwardsome conducive to the development of the game after analytical thinking, and makethe game to keep pace with The Times, promote the development of music teachereducation in our country, to cultivate conforms to the requirement of the new agemusic education talents make a significant contribution.
