In recent years, with the changes in the concept of marriage, our divorce rate isincreasing year by year. As parents’ divorce or cohabitation and non-marriage, thenumber of single-parent children is increasing day by day. Pameda Trevithick andother authors thought that children in single-parent families are easier to form a lowerlevel of self-awareness, and experience difficulties in the process of physical andmental development, which will make them feel lonely and hope to get theunderstanding and affirmation of others. The help in relationship has an important rolein the development of single-parent children’s self-awareness.The author of this paper combined the social surveys and social practice to knowthe single-parent students’ self-awareness in Tiantang Middle School and intervene init. The social survey results are similar to the view of the previous scholars, which isthe single-parent children’ self-awareness is lower than the normal children’. However, the quantitative analysis results of children’s self-concept scale show that thesingle-parent and normal children’ self-awareness have no significant differences. Thequantitative analysis of the effectiveness of the social practice results show that theshort-term growth group intervention did not significantly improve the single parentlevel of self-awareness. However, the short-term group work can change theself-awareness of the single-parent children, because of the post-test data on the totalscore and each dimension has a consistent trend change.
