As an important way to maintain family’s survival, housework is an obligation thatpeople have to undertake and the basis of social progress. With the development ofeconomy and technology, an increasing number of women come into the public domain,the housework which was belong to women has changed?Analyzing data from the Third Wave Survey on the Social Status of Women in China,the research has selected10641samples according to urban and rural and marital statusvariables, which established nested model and logistic regression model to test threewestern theories in China, especially the effect of gender perspective on housework.In this paper, the conclusions are as follows: there are gender differences on theeffects of housework in urban Chinese family, and women still are the main undertaker ofhousework. The interpretation of gender perspective do have effect on housework labor,and different gender shows opposite effects, the housework on women who own genderequality is positive while interpretation on men shows negative; and time availability alsohas some explanatory power, while the effect of relative resources on housework isdiffered by gender.
