The Impact Of Child-rearing On Gender Division Labor In Family ——A Time-Use Perspective

Housework is an important part of maintaining the normal order of family life,and also relates to the life of each member of the family,and the division of labor in housework has always been an important issue in family sociology.For a long time,labor in the family has been automatically equated with general housework such as laundry,cooking,cleaning and so on.Recently,with the rise of emotional housework research,emotional housework in the family to take care of the family has also attracted attention.Based on the perspective of time use,this paper takes the young married population as the research object,takes the general housework time and emotional housework time as the research category,uses the 2010 CFPS survey data,selects 11128 samples according to the variables such as age and marital status.Multiple linear regression model was used to explore the effect of child-rearing on gender division of housework,and some problems presented in the study were discussed.The main conclusions of this study are as follows :（1）there are gender differences in the division of domestic labor in China.Women bear significantly more domestic labor than men,and their market participation is significantly lower than that of men.（2）Parenting has a significant increase effect on housework time,and emotional housework time contributes more to housework time than general housework time.（3）There is a gender difference in the influence of the number of children on the individual family labor time,and the change of the number of children has no effect on the male general family labor time;However,female’s general housework time input increased,and it increased most when raising two children.The increase of the number of children had a gender consistent effect on individual’s emotional housework time,which firstly increased and then decreased,but the increase effect of female was higher than that of male.（4）Individuals with children in the age group of 0-6 spend the most housework time,and the main contribution to the increase in labor time comes from emotional housework time;and compared with men,as the age of children grows,women are less likely to reduce their generality housework time and emotional labor time.Based on the division of labor presented in the empirical results and combined with the current situation of social development,this paper puts forward two thoughts :（1）facing up to the value of family labor and realizing the socialization of family labor;（2）Promote the construction of a sound social support system for preschool children’s care and relieve parents from the heavy burden of infant care,which can promote fertility to a certain extent.
