Students Study Public Awareness Of Contemporary Culture

With the great social changes brought by modernization, life in public area is expanding at anunprecedented speed,public domain and the expansion in public life makes people pay moreattension to the presentation of public awareness. In modern China which has a acceleratingmarket, various uncivilized phenomenon reflects the lack of public awareness of ourcitizens.raising public awareness of our citizens has become an urgent need ofmodernization.College students are important part in the field of public life. Improving the publicawareness of college students is important not only to college students themselves, but also hasmagnificent practical signigicance.Firstly, the article explained "public"and "private" in the East and West from historical pointof view and made specifically describe the development process of its meaning.based on this, theauthor attempted to explain the meanings and features of public awareness. Public awareness is acommon will that every citizen should have. It is the subjective agreement and objectivecompliance on the rules and standards in the society. It includes public morality, public culture,public participation, environmental and public safety and public service aspects and so on.In order to understand the status of university students in public awareness, the authordesigned a questionnaire and did a field work in some colleges and universities in Guizhou. Thequestionnaire asked the students about their moral consciousness in public, the consciousness ofthe public deeds, the awareness of participation in classroom teaching and safety awareness,aming to know the public awareness of college students. The thesis try to explain the reasons gotthe lack of public awareness of college students. There are maily three reasons: the influence oftraditional Chinese culture, the lack of education in their growth and the lack of popularization ofpublic awareness.The thesis has analyzed the public awareness of college students. The author believes firstlyit’s important to create good cultural atmosphere of public awareness, and secondly focus on thequality of public awareness of students, efforts should also be made in higher education reformaccordingly.Through the joint efforts of society, family and school, the improvement in publicawareness of college students could be possible, which will also lay a solid foundation for the construction of our country.
