As China’s socialist modernization accelerating, the market economy in profound changesin social structure and interest pattern, also influence and change people’s psychological state andlevel deeply. At present, in the process of socialist market economy to accelerate the constructionof our country, the mainstream of social psychology is a pragmatic spirit, positive, but with theimpact of social transformation and market economy culture on the aspects of traditionalmentality, leads to the social psychological aspect also produced a series of profound problems,and is extremely deep and sharp exposed. These psychological problems exhibit a variety offorms, causes perplexing. Grasp and adjusting the social mentality, and cultivate rational andcalm, forge ahead, open and inclusive social mentality has become an important content ofbuilding a harmonious socialist society. Only the timely relief, to ease social people’spsychological pressure and confusion, and the elimination of social and psychological problems,can the harmonious development of the society, and for the construction of socialist marketeconomy and the socialist cause of the smooth and healthy development to provide a solid socialpsychological basis.This paper describes the general characteristics and new characteristics appeared in recentyears of the current social mentality, the multilayer surface analysis of the contradictions in thenew economic system and the traditional mentality, discuss social hot issues which exposed onthe media frequently, showing some typical adverse social mentality, research from the causes ofnegative mentality, and to explore various methods of social psychological adjustment.
