Nowadays, there are many alarming phenomena such as idling, committing suicide,performing self-mutilation and bullying at school, which exist prevalently among theuniversity students. These daunting acts alert us that much attention needs to be paid to thelife of the college students and to their education of life in order to help them development anall-around view on life and grow up in a sound manner. However, due to the influence of ourcountry’s educational environment, education of life has not received enough attention. Inmost cases, the education system attaches too much importance to the training of the students’professional knowledge and school records, while little attention has been paid to thecultivation of their personality and the value of life. As to the practice of life education, it onlycan find its popularity in the primary schools and secondary schools which account just for asmall proportion of the total number. That is, there is no large-scale popularization.Deficiency of life education in colleges has triggered a lot of problems: negligence of care forthe students’ life, students’ lack of life consciousness, of rational view on life and death, ofpassion for life and of pursuit of the value and significance of life. We should take thestudents’ education of life seriously so as to help them establish correct values on life,consolidate the consciousness of life responsibility, improve the survival skills, tap thepotential of life and realize the value of life. Particularly, colleges should be deemed as thefronts of cultivating students’ comprehensive development through education of life.Based on the previous study both at home and abroad, this thesis is carried out from theperspective of life care education. Firstly, we introduce the characteristics and the connotationof life education and an analysis of the theoretical necessity of life education is also made.Secondly, an empirical investigation is launched in order to analyze, in an objective andcomprehensive way, the influencing factors of the students’ value of life and find out thereason why the College Student format this view of life. These efforts will lay a solidfoundation for the practice of life education. Finally, with the purpose of improving theeffectiveness of life education, we put forward several pertinent strategies on practicing lifeeducation. Life education can not only enables people to respect life, cherish life, but also canmake people actively create the value of life, enhance the value and meaning of life and treatthe relationships between the lives correctly. What’s more, against the present backdrop of oursocial environment, life education is the inner demands of building a harmonious society, adapting to the changes of social environment, and embodying the moral education incolleges, and the inevitable requirements of college students’ correct understanding of life,enhancement of sound development in body and mind and realization of life value.Through the empirical survey, we find the major reasons for the lack of college students’life education are the students’ lack of correct outlook on life, values and psychologicalenduring capacity and tolerating capacity, the lack of life care in higher education institutionsand scarcity of life education in the education content, improper treatments of parents on theeducation of kids, positive guidance and influence on life value, the clouts of complicatedsocial environment and social value on College Students. Therefore, it is of bad necessity tostrengthen, in an all-around manner, the view of life through multiple ways. The followingaspects should be taken into consideration: improving college students’ mental health,converting the concepts of higher education, establishing the idea of life education, carryingout practical life education; building a harmonious parent-child relationship and strengtheninglife education on their children.
