With the most developing of economy, English education in the primary school becomesmore and more important. The popularization and improvement of English education in theprimary school is the significant thing for us to do. Humanism education through“PeopleOriented”of New Curriculum Standards have through all the parts of English teaching inprimary school. The important point of research has changed from how to teach to how tolearn (Arnold2002). One of the most important research points is about the individual factorwhich makes the difference in students’ achievement. Under such background, we start tofocus on the influence of affective factors on pupils’ language learning, and probe into thecrucial influence from the view of the educator. As all we known, it is among all the factorswhich affect English learner, the affective factor plays an important role. Among the factors ofaffect, motivation and interest are the key factors. No doubt, the motivation and interest willhave a great influence in the English learning of primary school students.At first, this article introduced the current situation of the pupils’ English study. Then, theauthor will state the latest development of affect at home and abroad. And the following partbases on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and Rogers’ humanistic psychology theory. I use theaffective teaching method which the key point called “live up” in the whole teaching progress.At last, I introduced the four months’ research.To better find out the current affective state of primary school students in English teaching,the research was held among48students in2classes of Grade4in a primary school of GanJingzi District in DaLian.The author randomly assigned the two classes to an experiment anda control class. The teaching in experimental class is with the affective teaching theory, whilein the control class the teaching is directed by traditional teaching method. The researchcollects data through questionnaire and tests. The students’ motivation and interest get moreactivity. There are the significant changes on the pupil’s English achievement. We can easily find the data on the result of the research, pupils’ internal motivation andacademic performance are related. It is meaningless if external motivation and academicachievement of students are negative. In order to arouse the interest and the motivation, thebest way is combine the games, songs, flash into the class. The teacher try to make the classlive up. Teach English through the games. Practice English at home and school. Under thepositive corporation of three aspects parents, school and teachers, to create a sound Englishlearning environment for students’ learn.
