Nowadays, with the rapid development of China’s urbanization process, the tendency ofthe floating population who migrate from the countryside to the city seems to be much morecomplicated. Especially the floating people are creating a new stage of their mobility. In thepast, they just temporarily live or work in the city,on the contrary,at preasent, much more ofthem are gradually planning to settle down in urban city instead of just living for a short time.As is known to all,the integration of the floating population plays a vital role in the progressof the social transformation and the change of demographic structure. In addition, theintegration is also limited and affected by kinds of social factors at the same time inreturn.According to the basis of quantitative research, this paper make a discussion about howand why we conduct this research, attempting to reveal the integrating degree of floatingpopulation and the primary influencing factors in the progress at the beginning of the21stcentury.First of all, it is mentioned in the thesis about the reasons of integration to cities of thefloating population and the research objective as well as the theoretic and realistic importanceof the research. And then, by referring to large amounts of academic document, the literaturereview and the document comment is done from different aspects of the phenomenon ofintegration to cities in the thesis. Based on the research done before, a new mode to measurethe level and the degree of the migrants integration to cities is created named as the mode of“5·20·43”, which means5dimensions including professional integration, behavior adaptation, cultural attitudes, identity recognition and social system integration along with20index offirst degree and43index of second degree. Through the research, it is found that theintegration of migrants to cities in the level of capital cities of China shows thephenomenon“semi-integration state”, in other words, the process of integration appears like asituation where mind and culture integration is superior to economy integration and socialsystem integration is inferior to other dimensions of integration, which can be described as“cultural lag behind” and shows obvious difference from other developed countries. It is alsoanalyzed in the thesis about the influence of many factors such as the housing situation, socialsecurity, average monthly income, social participation, willing of staying in cities, educationlevels, etc. sorting by the standardized partial regression coefficient in the method of linear regression analysis and testing by creating a model. The paper combine the results of thequestionnaire together with the analysis of the related data and some research made by otherprofessors I have refered to,based on the above two aspects, the paper proposed some feasibleopinions from the perspective of government, society and the flowing populationrespectively, via which we expect to alleviate the social contradiction caused in the progress ofintegrating from rual area to the city. The paper also put forward some reference basis oftheory which is meaningful, to make a long story short, faced with the existing problems, onlyby improving the social system, can we attain the glorious goal that the floating people canintergrate into the city organically and China will witness a modest and harmoniousurbanization.
