Mathematics is a logical and basic subject, mathematics teachers not only need a wide range of professional knowledge, also need a variety of abstract, thinking, judgment and reasoning ability. With the further development of educational information, the traditional mode of education has been unable to meet the needs of the growing knowledge of students, and mathematics classroom teaching has also become more free and open.In the background of the integration of information technology and mathematics curriculum, how to apply the informational zed teaching tools to the classroom teaching effectively is always the first basic problem. The quadratic function which is the knowledge the junior high school students first contact with. It is changing, abstract and strongly comprehensive which puts forward high requirement for forming the comprehensive ability of students.As a kind of common informational teaching software, The Geometer’s Sketchpad is dynamic, intuitive, interactive drawing and calculating accurately, and plays a strong role in promoting to optimize the quadratic function teaching.From theory to practice, this paper mainly uses the literature research method, quasi experimental research method, questionnaire method, interview method to study the application of the Geometer’s Sketchpad in the teaching of quadratic function. First of all, through the analysis of literatures, we summarize the research status in the field of the integration of mathematics and information technology and the field in Geometer’s Sketchpad home and abroad, which points out that it is significant to apply the Geometer’s Sketchpad in the teaching of quadratic function in junior middle school. Secondly, we analyze four theories of this research and basic function of the Geometer’s Sketchpad. The third, with the help of the Geometer’s Sketchpad, we design the typical case of applying quadratic function in the teaching of quadratic function in junior middle school. Fourth, we use quasi experimental research method to carry out experiments, and do the statistical analysis of the pretest scores, posttest scores with SPSS software to verify the application effect of the Geometer’s Sketchpad in the teaching of quadratic function, then combine with the questionnaire, interview analyze how the Geometer’s Sketchpad affect students’learning behavior, and summarize the issues which we should pay attention to in applying Geometer’s Sketchpad to the teaching of quadratic function in junior middle school.The results show that using the Geometer’s Sketchpad to assist the teaching of quadratic functions can help improve the enthusiasm of the students, cultivate the thinking ability of the students, help improve achievement of the intermediate level and sub low student; at the same time, also encountered a variety of obstacles and resistance, which is also the problems the Geometer’s Sketchpad application in the teaching of quadratic function should be solved.
