Mathematics is a fundamental subject which integrates strong logic and abstract knowledge. Students need strong learning ability. Teachers not only need a professional knowledge but also need a variety of thinking, reasoning and judgment abilities. It’s necessary for the junior high schools to have advanced auxiliary equipment and auxiliary teaching aids. Under the new curriculum reformation, there is a number of auxiliary mathematics teaching software was produced. It is well known that the Geometer’s Sketchpad is powerful, easy to learn and widely spread in mathematics teaching of junior high school in China.Quadratic function is the important and difficult point for senior high school entrance examination. It is abstract, changeable and comprehensive, which means the students need to have a certain abstract thinking ability and comprehensive ability. As for some rural junior middle school where the teacher’s educational ideas are backward, the teaching conditions are bad, the hardware facilities start late, the equipment are poor and large classes exist, the students’ learning ability is beyond satisfaction, so it is extremely difficult for the students to learn to use the quadratic function to solve practical problems. However, Geometer’s Sketchpad is easy to learn, the skills requirements for the mathematics teachers are undemanding, and the requirements for the excellent hardware facilities are not high, which conforms to the rural teaching conditions. This paper has been considered an experiment about the Geometer’s Sketchpad assisting mathematics teaching of rural junior high school, to calculate and analyze the experimental effect and the questionnaire survey, and to summarize the teaching efficiency. And then the conclusion is obtained: the use of the Geometer’s Sketchpad can enhance students’ learning interests, improve the efficiency of learning quadratic function, and especially help the students who have medium and low scores to learn easily. However, most of students of rural junior high school are below the average in province ones. So the quadratic function plays a very important role in improving their interests in learning, and whole math scores in mathematics teaching of junior high school.
