Listening is one of the four basic language skills. Anderson pointed out that human beings spend32%of their time in listening in the language using process, which shows the importance of listening practice. Therefore, the thesis chooses the listening training as a breakthrough, combining the four language basic skills together, to explore the teaching approach to promote the students’ overall capacity.The thesis takes the psycholinguistic mechanism as the theoretical basis, the50students in senior middle school in the city of Tieling as subjects to test the listen-to-learn English teaching approach. At the beginning of the research, the author uses questionnaire and interview to make preliminary investigation about students’ difficulties in English listening and studying. The relevant tests of listening, speaking, reading and writing are made before and after the research, the purpose of which is to make a comparison. The research results show that listen-to-learn English teaching approach can improve students’ English studying. Students made great and obvious progress in listening, speaking, reading and writing. During the research, the author carries a reflection about the results. The author believes that listen-to-learn teaching approach has a great potential in the future, which needs deeper and further research. It is hoped that the research can be some of value in English education both from a theoretical and practical point of view.
