| The problems of honesty crisis, credit deficiency and something like that prevail among the study and life of our current undergraduates. However, colleges and universities lack efficient methods in the aspect of the undergraduates’ honesty with a great number of problems, which makes the effect of the honesty education unremarkable. Therefore, it’s impossible to make it.The Honor Code is a code that American colleges and universities use to prevent students’ lying, cheating and stealing, and it also plays an important role in the management and self-government of American colleges and universities. The code initially came from Virginia University, originating from American president’s democratic thought. Starting from the aspect of system, the code educates and enlightens the students in a humanized way, and then penetrates it into every aspect of students’study and life, both of which not only cultivate the students’honesty attitude toward study and life, increase the trust and respect between the teachers and the students, but also provide a guarantee for build a harmonious and honest campus and social environment.In my paper, I study the American undergraduates’ Honor Code in terms of its originating, development, organization, implementation process, features and disputes. Compared with our traditional honesty education centered in teachers, department and schools, the idea of self-government by students the code advocates is more initiative and self-conscious. In addition, it puts forward some new attempts to handle the relationship between students and professors and make the students achieve self-government in a better way. Furthermore, its perfect, standard and systematic implementation process as well as the reasonable and clear reward and punishment mechanism embody the spirit of democratic and humanized management, which provides our colleges and universities with rich experience on how to deal with the problems of students’ cheating, lying and stealing。... |
