American University Student Honor Rules Study

Observing the principle of academic integrity reflects the respect for science and the worship of faith.In view of the current academic dishonesty of university students in China,a series of measures have been implemented to regulate and govern students and has achieved certain results.But there are still some problems in the implementation process,such as insufficient time and experience in development.The United States is an early student academic integrity management country.Its established honor codes after hundreds of years of development and reform is increasingly perfected.With the help of the codes of honor,the university strengthens the students’ awareness of academic integrity and standardizes their behavior.This paper analyzes the honor codes of American college students starting with the development motivation and course of honor codes based on the student honor codes of Stanford University and University of Maryland.From the aspects of the text content,the organization and the implementation of the codes of honor,the author explores the characteristics of the codes of honor for American college students.This paper also puts forward some enlightenment to the construction of academic integrity of university students in China.It is hoped that the compilation of the handbook of students’ academic integrity,the establishment of special institutions,the determination of punishment measures and the empowerment of students to participate in the management of academic integrity will be helpful to the construction of academic integrity of college students in China.
