The research of coeducation in modern times has been treated as a sub-problem among the study of women’s liberation movement, women’s education and open association. It has the research value as a suitable pointcut of social female view. By studying the course of coeducation in modern times, this paper attempts to tease out the relationship between women’s education and gender perception. It also helps understand the relevance among the independence of females’consciousness, educational concepts of the men in modern times, thus grasping the essence of the psychological conflict of modern men. And further, based on the investigation of students’family situation, ordinary families’ view of women’s education can be understood.In the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, great changes have taken place in Chinese society, not only the in social reality but also in peoples’mind. The pride of being the people in empire faded away after China failed the war. People with visions tried everything to save the country. After compared the Chinese and western life situation of women, they realized the importance of women’s education. They devoted all the passion to boosting the development of women’s education, here coeducation appeared.Coeducation is a solution of financial difficulties at the first time. It appeared in primary school in early Republican, and ended in middle school at the later period of the republic. It influenced by many factors during the process, including parochial education, local women’s education and women’s groups. Based on the discussion above, the author delved deep into the elite male’s thought to comprehend the real purpose that hiding in what they said, and raised a question about the essence of gender equality.
