| The rapid development of knowledge economy and globalization has inevitably become the defining feature of contemporary society; English has gradually become the important tool of communication under the trend of global integration. High school English, as an important cohesion for student who come from the basis of English subject to the master of using value phase, its teaching is faced with unprecedented challenges. The New English Curriculum Standard "proposed the brand-new education ideas:Give priority to the students, advocate let the student participate and think actively, let all the students’ knowledge closer to the real life. New era requires high school English teaching method should keep pace with the times, get rid of the traditional exam-oriented education mode, to train the English talents who adapt to social development.However, coming from decades of tough years, high school English teaching method is still could not get rid of the traditional teaching mode of the exam-oriented education, the teaching method is monotonous, boring and ineffective. It is obvious that the traditional "teachers, teaching materials, classroom" centered "pure analysis, pure import" type of English teaching methods have seriously hindered the development of high school students’ English learning and English ability, and even the entire high school English teaching advance footsteps. Teachers, as the executor of the English teaching reform in the front line, whether have superb teaching ability, whether can adopt enough proper high quality teaching method, has become one of the important factors concerning English education reform achievements. The theory "autonomous, inquiry and cooperation" which new curriculum advocates, can stimulate students’ and teachers’ creativity and enthusiasm, at the same time can led to the birth of the "high school English classroom of life", thus respectively achieve high school students and teachers’ personal values appeal effectively. This new type of high school English teaching method is just to be used in the high school English teaching. However, traditional teaching methods are still the chief, in the front of high school English teaching, the teaching methods which the new curriculum advocate also has some problems in the concrete implementation.This paper based on high school English course, on the basis of summarization of the development of English teaching methods at home and abroad, trying to from the angle of combining theory with practice, using questionnaires, interviews, literature research methods, to do dynamic tracking and overall discussion and analysis for two high school English teachers’ implementation of teaching methods in xi’an. This paper is aim to reveal the issues that highlighted in current high school English teaching method, summarizes reasons for their occurrence, and put forward constructive suggestions for the reformation of high school English teaching method and the reasonable selection and application of English teaching method. The study finally concluded the following aspects concerning the change of high school English teacher’s teaching method:From the high school English teachers’ teaching concept, teaching skills, the change of teaching professional development; For the examination and evaluation system, evaluation subject, evaluation way of improvement; Set up the system of high school English school research, pay more attention to the use of information technology in English teaching, and optimize high school students’ English learning methods.This research mainly divided into five parts:The first part:introduction. Mainly analyzes the reason and significance of this article, on this basis review and summarize not only the research status of English teaching method in both domestic and abroad but also the development trend.The second part:the theory state. Explain teaching methods from the multi-dimensional, analysis related concept; To clarify the contradiction of traditional teaching method and the teaching methods which the new curriculum advocate; Give the connotation of the high school English teaching methods a comprehensive interpretation.The third part:the current situation analysis and investigation of high school English teaching method. Using the form of questionnaire and interview for both students and teachers, to do investigation of present situation of English teaching method in two xi’an high school from the multiple dimensions. To analyzes the research results and summary the problems, proposed the necessity of senior high school English teaching methods change.The fourth part:The rational selection and use of high school English teaching. on the basis of analysis and summary of the influencing factors of high school English teaching methods change, put forward the value pursuit and evaluate measures of high school English teaching methods, illustrate the choice basis and application of high school English teaching methods.The fifth part:suggestions of high school English teaching method reform.
