With the popularity of information technology and the guides of national policesabout information technology in education, a great amount of universities are engagedin digital resources construction which leads to the booming of online learningresources for undergraduates. However, at the same time, some researches showthat the result of online learning for undergraduates are always unsatisfied. As a result,the study which focuses on how to improve the result of online learning has attractedwidely attention. Based on some researches, it is found that the result of onlinelearning is closely relating to the sense of presence. Thus, this thesis, based onprevious researches, will explore the current sense of presence for undergraduatesand the relationship between sense of presence and actions during online learningfrom two views which are person to person and person to media environment.Additionally, this thesis tries to provide theoretical basis for further researches aboutthe effect of online learning and development of network learning platform.During the process of related researches collection, the understanding of senseof presence for undergraduates during online learning is deepened. Based onprevious statement, this thesis tries to make empirical study which focuses on senseof presence during online learning through following efforts:(1)From the process ofcollecting relevant studies, it is clear that there is influence of sense of presence on onlinelearning; however, similarly domestic studies are scarce. Thus, the subject of this thesis isestablished;(2)Based on relevant studies around the world, four measurementstandards, which are emotional experience, semantic expression, technicalenvironment and control force, are created and used in the questionnaires;(3)Eventhough online teaching resources from universities are booming, domestic studieswhich focus on sense of presence during online learning are scarce. As a result,undergraduates from seven universities in Dalian has already been selected asrespondent to explore the sense of presence for undergraduates during onlinelearning;(4)During processing the data from questionnaires, correlation analysis andregression analysis are used to explore current situation of sense of presence forundergraduates during online learning, the factors which may affect sense ofpresence during online learning, the current situation of online learning actions, andthe relationship between sense of presence and actions during online learning.From above efforts, it is shown that,(1) The current sense of presence forundergraduates during online learning is low;(2)Among the four measurement standards, the ‘Control Force’ is of the lowest sensitivity;(3)The sense of presence isaffected by demographic characteristic(;4)The sense of presence is of great influenceon online learning actions.
