The United States is recognized the economic and technological powerhouse, which is closely related with the high level of development of American education. The United Stated is one of the most developed countries in the world of science education in elementary and secondary schools. The support of national macro-policy and the public awareness of science education, which boosted science education early start and rapid development in United Stated. Science education of the United Stated also has a far-reaching impact on the development of science education in other countries and leads international science education continue to make outstanding achievements.Since twenty-first Century, the development of science education in China has been hitherto unknown attention. By drawing on foreign experience, to explore suitable reform and development mode for China’s science education, which is an important matter of national education policy. This paper mainly through documentation study method, historical study method and case study method, to research and discuss the characteristics and successful experience of development of science education of America elementary school for our reference.The article is divided into three parts:The first part is the instruction. Including the issues raised and research significance, domestic and international study literature review, the definition and main research methods.The second part is the main body. Firstly, the article systematically combing the course of development of science education in America, and analysis the relevant state laws and regulations and policy in each stage, which played a promoting role, and by way of legislation to protect the implementation of science education. Secondly, a detailed analysis of curriculum design and education implementation of science education in America, including the setting of the science education goals, curriculum arrangement, teaching content and teaching methods. In this part, set Massachusetts elementary science education as a case of study, and strive to be more real and three-dimensional grasp of the specific implementation of science education in America. Thirdly, to research the evaluation system of science education in America. Finally, to analysis and study the construction of teachers of science education in America.The third part is the enlightenment. Through comprehensive analysis and research American elementary science education, summed up five aspects worthy recommendations, including legislation protection, design curriculum, inquiry spirit, evaluation system and the science teachers’ cultivation.
