Vocabulary is generally believed to be the most important among the English learning. As it is the major skill of English learning. The vocabulary is the basic of English learning, there is no in-depth study of English without the master of vocabulary. Thus the vocabulary learning is regarded as one of the most important parts in vocational middle school English class. Much research has shown that vocabulary strategies can not only improve the students’vocabulary understanding ability, but also help cultivate the ability of autonomous learning.However, the vocational middle school students lose their confidence in learning English, and gradually their English becomes even poorer.Because of the position that vocabulary holds in language learning, the writer of this thesis first tries to get some general ideas of what kind of vocabulary strategies vocational middle school students use by using a questionnaire and a vocabulary size test. According to the vocabulary test, the students could be divided into two groups, then, through questionnaire find the difference between good vocabulary learners and bad vocabulary learners with regard to the learning strategies. The purpose is to be helpful in future teaching.
