With the increase of population aging, the risk of elderly people suffering from chronic diseases gradually increased, while living skills of the elderly gradually decreased. It has not only brought the elderly difficulties to life, but also impact on the health of the elderly. And with the changes in family structure,"421" families, nuclear families and empty nesters increased. The elderly totally rely on family care has appeared to be inadequate; they need to rely on a diversified portfolio of long-term care services offered by outside power, thus, the pension caregivers came into being. To some extent, they reduce the family burden, while improving the quality of life of the elderly people. Therefore, we must be clearly of the importance of their position in long-term care services, focusing on the pension caregivers should be more important than the elderly people.In this paper, the author makes a research on pension caregivers of pension institutions with literature research, questionnaire investigation and interview method from two aspects of occupational identity and occupational demand. First of all, through the analysis about the present situation and their similarities and differences of pension caregivers from two institutions, the author summarized the group characteristics of the pension caregivers. Second, the degree of occupational identity affects the pension caregivers’attitude toward work, thus affecting the quality of nursing service. The study found that institutional pension caregivers have a low sense of occupational identity because of the low wages, heavy workload, irregular working hours and so on. These factors not only cause negative emotions, affect their physical and mental health and their sense of belonging towards work, but also lead to an increased flow degree and the loss of more pension caregivers. The author explored occupational demand including higher wages, welfare policy support, law supporting, pay can get recognition, regular training of pension caregivers. Finally, the author tries to give some suggestions from the government level, social level, institutional level and social level under the perspective of social support which plays an important role on raising the sense of occupational identity and the enthusiasm of the service of pension caregivers, and is beneficial to promote social welfare and promote the development of old-age care.
