Campus Culture In Cold War

At present,"culture orientation" has become a hot spot in the field of Cold War history research. It mainly focuses on the relationship between the trends of Cold War, folks’lives and social culture. Referring to the files in the Xiamen University Archives, I select the Xiamen University Militia as a research object, and the timelines is set from1958to1966. This article will reveal the significance of militarization and the connection between the trends of Cold War and campus militarization. First of all, I narrate the organizational system and development of Xiamen University Militia, which includes the establishment, transformation and political education of militia. Secondly, in a state of campus militarization, I sort out the re-distribution of the Xiamen University Militia’s daily time and militarization spatial layout. Last but not least, I investigate the special campus culture in the period of Cold War; also we analyze how to politically build up a militia "heroic" image and how to express literary and artistic works.
