The development of women’s education in modern China played an important role in women’s quality improvement and liberation self-consciousness. The thought and practice of women’s education of Tang Qunying was a monument of modern Chinese women’s education undoubtedly. Throughout Tang’s life, her lofty ideals, rich revolutionary fighting for national salvation, which made her combine the ideal with the times and put into practice. She was a democratic revolutionist, the feminist movement pioneer woman and the woman reported educator. Her life was devoted to women’s education, and after middle-aged she poured the whole wealth into girls’ schools,five kinds of newspapers and magazines and ten schools were founded all her life. She adapted to the needs of the times, nurturing students’ patriotism in the vivid form, combining patriotic education with the feminist struggle together, focusing on literacy and Industrial education combination. In the country’s long period of war, in the decades-long years, Tang poured all her power, persistent struggle, and made use of every single opportunity to ground school, delicated to education selflessly. Her enthusiasm to high school is commendable, and her story of is respectable. This paper discusses the thought and practice of women’s education of Tang Qunying, and analyzes her important role in the promotion of women’s education and liberation in modern China and its far-reaching implications, which is still a valuable educational activity reference today.The thesis is on the thought and practice of women’s education of Tang Qunying, composed of five parts. The Introduction is mainly an outline of the cause of the topic, a summary of literature and the indication of the key point, research design and primary approaches.The first part of the main body is to give a brief introduction of Tang Qunying’s life. It focuses on the background of Tang’s women education thought, and analyzed from three aspects:the enlightened family education, the impact of reform ideas and the experience of revolutionary practice.The second part concentrates on the content of Tang’s women education thought from four aspects:the origin of the women education thought is patriotism; the equity of men and women is the essential goal of education; the guideline of running a school is the popularization of knowledge combined with industrial education; the most unusual characteristic of her education thought is the advancement of women’s brilliance through the combination of schooling and social education.The third part mainly discusses the journals and schools erected by Tang Qunying, because these are two methods of her women’s education practice.The fourth part is to summarize Tang’s personal trait through the comparison with Qiujin, and give an objective evaluation of her women’s education career.
