There are often errors when students solve problems and errors can not be avoided. So we must correct them on time and reduce errors to happen. At the same time we must have a positive attitude to errors and make full use of the value of errors.Function is one of the important mathematical knowledge points in high school and it penetrates the whole mathematical knowledge system. At the same time it is also a big difficulty in learning. In recent years, there are many studies on the errors of problem solving. This article is on the basis of the existing research. It worked through a survey and an interview to the teachers and students to investigate the attitudes to errors, and from the definition, properties and applications of functions to classify and analyze the errors. We wanted to make effective recommendations on problem solving for students, make the teachers’ teaching more targeted in future, and help students establish a better knowledge system of function. This article is consists of five chapters. The first chapter was raising questions, which mainly described the background, significance, purpose and methods of research. The second chapter was literature review, which mainly sorted out the domestic and foreign researches on problem solving, including analyzing the attitudes and the causes of problem solving, summarizing their views and disadvantages, and providing directions to the research in this paper. In third chapter, we described the theoretical basis of this paper, including cognitive structure and non-intelligence factor theoryThe fourth chapter was the investigation and analysis of the errors of problem solving in function for high school students, which included investigating the students’and teachers’ attitudes to errors in problem solving and summary of the survey; investigating errors in problem solving from the definition, properties and applications of functions, analyzing the causes of errors from the perspective of cognitive structure and non-intelligence factors, and finally summarizing the conclusion of the research of this article. The fifth chapter was suggestion and reflection, which putted forward suggestions about the teachers’ attitudes to students’errors and the teaching of function in high school, and finally pointed out the shortages and looked forwards to relevant researches in the future.
