In the traditional English reading teaching, the teacher has occupied the leadingrole, it is the characteristic of traditional English teaching. Teachers pouring knowledgein the class,and the students are just receiving. They have no more chance to thinkingand use knowledge. Students have no more opportunities to take part in the class orexpress themselves, so their ability cannot enhance quickly. For the situation,cooperative learning can resolve the problem effiency. Coopertive learning can not onlyincrease their interesting, but also they can learn how to communicate with othersduring cooperative learning. In English reading, reading is very important, it canbenefit for listening, speaking and writing. During the research, the author combine thecooperative learning with English reading, and have got a great gole.The aim of the research is to improve the efferency of cooperative. Before theresearch, the author find amount of material, and based on motivation theory, zone ofproximal development theory, and cognitive theory. The research was taken inDongcheng Junior High School, Gaizhou, the author choose the class two and classseven in Grade Eight as the object, in class two used cooperative teaching method, andthe class seven as the control class have no change that take the traditional method.According to the score of pre-test an post-test, the author can get the conclusion that thecooperative learning is availability. During the analysis of experiment, the authoranalysis the data by SPSS11.5. It can get the answer through the analysis.The author mainly research three questions. Firstly, can Cooperative Learningimprove students’ reading ability? Secondly, what are students’ perceptions aboutcooperative learning in junior high school? Thirdly, in what ways can cooperativelearning improve students’ reading ability?Experimental results show that the cooperative learning method can improvestudents’ English reading ability, in addition, students’ cooperative skills can improve inthe module. Therefore, the author believe that the cooperative learning is the beatsignificance way for students to learn English reading.
