In contemporary China,due to the need of the times,“learning society”hasbecome an inevitable social development“,lifelong education” thinking has also beenrecognized and popular,“self-education” has become one of the hot issues ofcontemporary education. Research on self-education and treatises is rich, but thepractical effect of self-education is poor. What causes it? Which groups should bemore concerned about by the practice of self-education? Which platform enablingthe practice of self-education in school education? Weather exist an effective andsimple self-education program or not? How to promote the effective implementationof self-education practice? These issues and promote this research incurred.Based on nearly20years of self-education-related research data, this studyanalyzes the situation and existing problems of China’s self-education research. Theresearchers for the study of the basic theory of self-education were relatively full andcomprehensive, but often limited to the ideological and political fields and relativelyslow; practice for the study of self-education issues, is the main object of study incollege students; Self-education for young students mainly stays on the theoreticallevel; In terms of subject teaching, the research mainly stays in the study self-studylevels.Based on previous studies, this study defines the concept of self-education asself-education is a process to achieve self-improvement and self-realization thatindividuals base on self-awareness, inspire dreams and aspirations for which they areready to pay the price action actively, simultaneously using the power of faith andwill to regulate their own behavior.This study consists of the following three parts:The first part, based on research and foreign scholars and educators, the paperdefines the basic concept of self-education. Respectively, through philosophy,education, psychology and management science demonstrates the theoreticalfoundation of self-education. Rationalizes the five major aspects of self-education, self-education is also the main basis for instructional design. Detailed scientific theoryis the basis for self-education, but also laid the foundation for self-education topractice.The second part demonstrates the importance and feasibility of self-education inthe language subjects in secondary school teaching. First, through the analysis ofsecondary school students’ psychological and physiological characteristics,demonstrated the secondary stage is the important period of self-education teaching.Secondly, through the grasp of the language subjects humanities and informative twocore features, refines the characteristics of language subjects, and corresponds to thecharacteristics of self-education and the direction of training, Language subjects isproved to be a major teaching positions self-education.Finally, through research onWei Shusheng’s thinking and teaching practice of self-education, Demonstrate thefeasibility of self-education for secondary school guidance, while parsing an effectiveway of self-education practice.The third section discusses the three aspects of self-education implementationstrategies in language teaching of secondary schools. First, strengthen the constructionof teachers, improve teachers’ professional identity, and the degree of professionalenthusiasm, also improve teachers’ emphasis on individual students.Second, graspthe specific training pathways in secondary language of self-education teachingpractice. Through text interpretation and extracurricular reading to enhance students’self-awareness and expansion ability. Use the dream book and motto to help studentsto form the driving force.Through the more feasible plan to develop the students’action. Through active faith, daily creed, to develop the students’ willpower. Finally,pay attention to the implementation of the principle of self-education in order toguarantee the effective implementation of language teaching in secondary schools.Based on a variety of social conditions and constraints, self-education practice inlanguage teaching in secondary school is not ideal. Teachers have to pay moreattention because of their subject teaching, there is no specifically self-educationcurriculum or schedule, the heavy burden of students, the college entrance exampressure,are all factors.We clarified that secondary stage is the important time of self-education and language teaching subjects carrying capacity is helpful.Theclarity of the importance of the subject teachers, as well as the specific purposes ofteaching approaches and principles that will help us to reach the real education. Toachieve true education,we still have more research to be done.
