Engels’ Thoughts On Women’s Liberation And Its Contemporary Review

Engels wrote abundant works during his life.Though he had not written monographs about women’s liberation,his article is never lack of discussions on the question of women’s liberation.This paper makes every effort in the original text,using the basic principles and methods of Marxism,according to the existing literature,drawing on research results on the basis of many scholars to comb Engels’thoughts on women’s liberation in the text.Then combining the western Marxist feminism thought and consideration of women’s liberation in our country, what it takes to have a objective understanding of Engels’thoughts on women’s liberation and further excavate the contemporary value of the theory.This paper is divided into three parts.The first chapter mainly elaborates the formation of Engels’thoughts on women’s liberation and its theoretical sources.And according to Engels’discussions on the question of women’s liberation in the text,his thoughts on women’s liberation can be divided into three stages:beginning,establishing and maturing.The second chapter discusses the main contents of Engels’thoughts on women’s liberation.It expounds the status of women in the two kinds of production,the essence of the oppression of women,the relationship between women’s liberation and proletariat liberation as well as the conditions and ways of women’s liberation from the horizons of production and class.The third chapter is the contemporary review of Engels’thoughts on women’s liberation.In commenting a kind of thought,it is not adequate just to touch on the combing and summary level.Therefore,this part points out the difference between western Marxist feminism thought and Engels’thoughts on women’s liberation in order to analyze it objectively.Then through thinking of the women’s liberation in our country,expounds the guiding significance of women’s liberation in China,looks for the way out for women’s liberation. Finally, on the basis of the discussion before,the paper analyzes the philosophical foundation of Engels’thoughts on women’s liberation,its class nature and the unity of women’s liberation and women’s development.
