Women, together with men, created human history and human civilization. Theypromote social development and progress, and meanwhile they bear a special mission ofhuman reproduction. However, during the development of history, women do notequally enjoy the fruits of human civilization as men, rather, they are subjected todiscrimination and unequal treatments due to women’s unique physical andphysiological characteristics and their rights have not been given protections thatdeserved."Social progress can be accurately measured by the social status of women”.The rapid development of modern society and the changes of women’s role in thefamily and society, prompts people to begin to focus on the issue of women’s rights andaccordingly, societies have issued a series of laws and measures regarding women’srights protection. Marx is also very concerned about the situation of women’s rights andinterests in the entire history of mankind in his study, and discusses how to protect therights of women, who are in a relatively weak position compared to men. The issue ofwomen’s rights protection is not simply the issue of women, and it is not only the issueabout equality and the issue of how to treat women as “human”, but also the issue of thedevelopment of all human being and the development of the society as a whole. The ideas of Marx and Engels are unique in its thorough logic, its understandingand criticism of social reality rooted in real practices. This thesis follows themethodology of the unity of logic and history, and looks onto the background of Marxand Engels’s theories of women’s rights protection in Chapter1, that is, the dualoppression from family and society women suffered is the reality basis of women’srights protection; the theory of alienation is the theoretical origins of women’s rightsprotection. Chapter2generally combs the inner logic and the main contents of Marxand Engels’ theory of women’s rights protection. The issues regarding women’s rights protection in political, economic, social, cultural, and ecological aspects needs to besolved theoretically. After we stepped into the21st century, unprecedented progress hasbeen made in women’s rights protection from all over the world, however, accompaniedthe new stage of social development, the form and the content of discrimination, oppression and even destruction suffered by women are varying and thus the contents ofwomen’s rights protection are changing. In view of this, the theory of women’s rightsprotection cannot be simplistic and one-sided. Thus, the following5chapterscomprehensively illustrate Marx and Engels’s ideas of women’s rights protection inpolitical, economic, cultural, social and ecological aspects. In Marx and Engels’ view,“the human” mean people in reality, which includes bothmen and women. They valued the rights and interests of the oppressed and ruled peopleand they were concerned about the living conditions of women; they stressed the unionof the masses that in a disadvantaged position of power, stressed the establishment oftheir own philosophy, and emphasized that the ideology should be transformed intophysical forces to protect people’s various interests. The theory of women’s rightsprotection is consistent with the theory of proletariat protection, and both of them arecontains within Marx and Engels’s theoretical system. The systemic studies of women’srights protection theory is an important theoretical basis to ensure the status and thedevelopment of women. Such in-depth theoretical study helps a lot to get fullknowledge and understanding of the changing social reality, to understand the currentstatus of women’s development, and plays as a guidance in the development ofwomen’s rights and interests protection. It also has important positive theoreticalsignificance and practical value in women’s personality perfection and even the socialand cultural development of all humanity.
