The goal of this study is to find out the problems in number sense and teachingof number sense of noemal studengs based on a series of investigations and to proposesome strategies to solve these problems.Maily, this study adopted questionnaire method, interviewing method andcomprehensive analysis method.120normal students majored in mathematics from6colledges were investigated as a sample. The results of investigations showed:1. The problems on number sense of normal students were: The level of numbersense of them could hardly fit the teaching of number sense for their low percent ofsuing number sense, poor system of number sense and poor tendency to use numbersense; The level of normal studengs from Hebei province on knowledges of numbersense and teaching significance of number sense was very low.The reasons for problems on number sense of them were: They had hardlylearned kownledges of number sense and teaching significance of number sense; Thenumber sense teaching was poor in their stadge of compulsory education; The level ofnumber sense of them dropped a little in their stadges of senior high school andcollege school; The difficulty of investigetion on the level of number sense hadaffected the results of the investigetions.2. The problems on number sense teaching of normal students were: Theycouldn’t find proper teaching objectives according to content of courses andcurriculum standards; They couldn’t develop ample teaching materials on numbersense to fit number sense teaching;They couldn’t examine number sense of theirstudents effectively.The reasons for problems on number sense teaching of them were: Their lowlevel of number sense couldn’t fit the teaching of number sese; Their commonteaching strategies couldn’t fit the teaching of number sense;There was no ampleinformation on the teaching of number sense inland which could be referred to bythem.Based on the reasons for problems they had and their own actual situations, weproposed some suggestions:First, normal students from Hebei province had to improve their level of numbersense to fit number sense teaching;Second, they had to learn more knowledges of number sense and teaching significance of number sense;Third, normal college should urgently study number sense teaching and makesure their studengts have a high level of teaching of number sense.At last, we created a teaching design based on our understanding of numbersense teaching and we hoped that this design was helpful to noemal students andfurther research.
