In mathematics learning and problem-solving process, the difference would characterize the problem solving of the problem of students affected, who started from sixth grade to this stage among students of different characterization of the problem, to a large extent determine the problem the results resolved, so the equation by junior middle school students conducted research to characterize the problem is with some practical guidance role.Equation, which is an important part of high school mathematics, is the focus is more difficult. It directly affects the junior high school mathematics learning, or even affect high school learning. Equation problem which he alleged practical problem-based, and students in information processing problem, the problem will be characterized through this phase, then select the characterization methods will directly affect the final outcome and the process of problem solving and the choice of different types of topics characterization is a luxurious way.As a teacher, if you characterize the way the students can understand and summarize and analyze teaching can be targeted. In this study, the students who started the needle for the study, using a questionnaire, interview surveys, research methodology combines literature, examining different ways to characterize the students who started the problem in solving the equation used to investigate and characterize different the results lead to differences in the way a comparative study, the study’s end, hoping to put forward specific proposals. The study found that at this stage of the first grade students in solving application problems equation, using more characterization approach is shown to characterize the way, literal semantic structure characterization methods and characterization methods. At the same time it is also a more effective way to characterize the three characterization methods, and the study found, each with its own appropriate way to characterize the applicable environment, the effect of different levels of the same characterization methods used by students is different, but there is no apparent gender differences, in the fourth part of the findings of this study will be a detailed analysis.
