Higher vocational education, an important component of our education system, refers tothe special education form aimed at training applicable-oriented talents in advancedtechnology like production, construction and management. It is a kind of special highereducation. At present, higher vocational education account for a large portion in highervocation. Whether higher education schools could conduct teaching and ensure the expectededucation quality is closely related to the physical condition of their faculty. This paperstudied the physical fitness conditions of the faculty in higher vocational schools by means ofliterature, observation, investigation and statistics.The purpose and significance of this research: First of all, the majority of highervocational schools in Hebei province are located in Shijiazhuang. Therefore, the results drawnfrom the research of how faculty in Shijiazhuang-based higher vocational schools keepsfitness could not only serves as an important part of the research of how the faculty in highervocational schools in Hebei province keeps fitness, but also represents, in a way, the statusquo of physical exercise of the faculty in higher vocational schools in Hebei province.Secondly, the study of when and how faculty in Shijiazhuang-based higher vocational schoolskeeps fitness could serves as a reference for relevant government departments when theymake policies and laws related to the exercise activities of faculty in higher vocationalschools in Shijiazhuang and even in Hebei province. Moreover, the research methods andhow this research is conducted could serve as a good reference for other relevant researches inthis region and other researches targeted at specific groups.Research results:1. In Shijiazhuang-based higher vocational schools, the number ofteachers taking part in physical exercises is higher than that of staff and the number of maleteaching staff is higher than that of female. Teaching staff in their thirties take up the leastportion. Heavy burden from work and domestic chores, lack of fitness instruction and theopinions that doing housework equals going to gym are the three main reasons why someteaching and administrative staff don’t have the habit of going to the gym.2. The means ofexercise vary greatly between male and female teaching and administrative staff. Teaching and administrative staff that do exercise three times per week account for only a smallproportion the total number and the forms of exercise they choose are very casual.3. To keepfit, or to alleviate spiritual pressure are the top two motives that drive the teaching andadministrative staff to go to gym. Male teaching and administrative staff hope to improvethe friendship between them and their friends through doing exercise while females hope tokeep fit, lose weight and remain vigorous and shapely through doing exercise.4. Heavy workpressure and lack of fitness place are the most critical two reasons that restrict male teachingand administrative staff from doing exercise. Apart from the fairly large pressure from work,onerous housework also restricts female teaching and administrative staff from doing exercisein a way.Advice: Upon the relevant conclusions drawn from the research, this research putforward measures for how to promote the physical exercise of teaching and administrativestaff in Shijiazhuang-based of higher vocational schools after applying the Delphi techniquesand integrating experts opinions.1. The teaching and administrative staff themselves play amajor role and hold a proper attitude towards life. While fully fulfilling due tasks, theteaching and administrative staff should properly spend their spare time. In everyday life, theteaching and administrative staff should make full use of the resource in school to exercisethemselves and actively participate in the sports training and contest organized by schools.2.Relevant government sectors should take positive measures to alleviate the work andpromotion pressure of teaching and administrative staff, especially teachers. Schools shouldinvest more in sports equipments and training so as to let teaching and administrative staffhave more accesses to physical exercise.3. Relevant government sectors should strengthenmanagement on fitness and entertainment market in order to ensure that the public could doexercise. At the same time, they should optimize the sports equipments located in parkscommunities and streets, thus creating a Faculty environment for people to do Exercise.
