However, nowadaysyoung people knows very few about their own traditional culture, much less minorities’. It becomes difficult for the nation’s spirit and wisdom to be passed on. As a Chinese teacher in primary-school, it is considered far reaching for a project to have minorities’folktales as a resource of primary Chinese courses. The project based on extensive reading of theoretical literature such as teaching related basic theories, psychology theories, pedagogical theories, plus the experiences of primary Chinese reading courses that the author implemented in earlier days, has an in-depth investigation of minorities’folktales. In reading teaching practice, teacher guides, students choose their interest topics, team workshop are used, diversified evaluation system such as in-process evaluation and dynamic evaluation are put into place, minorities’ folktales’ literariness value, social value, virtue value and cultural continuity value are highlighted. In the process, the author aroused pupils’ initiative to participate in the class, stimulated their interest of Chinese learning, increased the understanding of minorities’ knowledge, and achieved satisfactory results.Through the project research, the author believes that introducing minorities’ folktales into primary Chinese teaching courses will not only enrich students’knowledge on minorities, increase their literary accomplishment, but also deepen their understanding of national unity, and then help to carry on and develop national spirit. At the end, the author pointed out the insufficient areas that need to be modified and directions for further development.
