In order to reduce the study burden on primary and secondary school, the Ministry of Education issued a notice called "reducing burden" in1999. According to the notice, all kinds of supplemental learning in school were prohibited, except terminal class. After that, supplemental learning outside school was provided, and they were becoming more and more popular. In recent years, supplemental learning outside school are growing intensely, and gradually move towards to a kind of chain trend in different regions. As a kind of important supplement of school class, supplemental learning outside school meets the need of parents and students who want a special study. People in different fields focus a lot on supplemental learning, they have paid more and more attention on it, and the attitude has changed, no more opposition but objective research. An agency with long history which provides supplemental learning outside school was chosen. English class was chosen to be observation and interview object. Firstly, the author is trying to show the teaching ideas, teaching objectives and teaching strategies. Secondly the author is trying to summarize the teaching mode and mode features. Finally, some advices will be drawn.This thesis includes four chapters. In the introductory part, the author is going to discuss the reason about how the topic is chosen, the purpose, content and methods of research, the core concepts will be identified and the significance will be presented.In the first chapter, the development history of supplemental learning outside school will be reviewed. In the second chapter, an agency in Beijing will be taken as a model, the author will obtain first-hand information relevant factors from its English class. The second chapter is based on the basis of classroom observation data collected from English class, and the teaching features will be summed up. In the third chapter, the author will draw on teaching features of supplemental learning outside school, some advices will be given to improve the teaching activities of supplemental learning agencies.
