Abstract:With the development and innovation of Internet, multimedia technology, blended learning as a new instructional mode has been gradually becoming popular in education, which has formed the challenge of modern information technology to the traditional education pattern in colleges and universities. Meanwhile blended learning of colleges and universities in United States has a well-rounded pattern. Blended learning is the combination of traditional face-to-face teaching and online learning, which not only overcomes the shortcoming of single computer and online learning including lack of interaction between teachers and students, asynchronism on feedback and short of thoughts communication in reflection process, but also resolves the traditional teaching mode problems including lack of timeliness of information update, limited independent thinking spcace and time and teacher’s over dominace. This research is baced on new teaching mode reform in the condition of modern information technology in order to explore blended learning of colleges and universities in United States. The main content is devided into five parts:the first part is theoretical basis of blended learning to have a preliminary understanding about blended learning;the second part introduces the historical background and development hidtory of blended learning of colleges and universities in United States and lays a foundation for the following discussion;the third and forth parts are the core of this research, which mainly discusses the organization, implementation and quality assurance of blended learning of colleges and universities in United States to understnd its operation process;the finally part assesses blended learning of colleges and universities in United States and disclosures the teaching mode reform orientation in our country.
