SOC (system on a chip) is the digital system which is implemented on a chipand SOPC (system on a programmable chip) emphasizes that the system isimplemented on a programmable chip. This project has designed a SOPC whichis based on Openrisc processor and wishbone bus and it was developed anddebugged on the Virtex6ML605platform. We also applied the system to a flawdetector.In detail, the project has worked on the following aspects.(1) From the perspective of the hardware design, this thesis elaborates thelogic circuit design of the clock and reset unit, the wishbone interconnection unit,the memory system unit, the communication system unit and the other input andoutput unit.(2) From the perspective of the software design, this thesis explains theimplementation of the Orpmon bootloader and Linux Kernel. It also explains howto design the the Ethernet drivers, the IIC drivers and Framebuffer drivers onOrpmon bootloader and linux Kernel.(3) From the perspective of the application, this thesis illustrates how to useOpenrisc processor and wishbone bus to substitute ARM processor which wasused to control the whole system of flaw detector. It also illustrates how to useram in a chip and dvi interface to substitute sram and vga interface which wasused to implement the display function of. flaw detector。By using the Openrisc SOPC, we can effectively reduce the system size andimprove its flexibility and reconfigurability.
